Does this sound like you?

When pain starts deciding what you can do

You wake up and test your back before you trust it. You have painkillers, a balm or a support belt nearby. You have skipped the gym, avoided lifting your child, stopped gardening or changed how you work because you already know what your body may punish you for.

Or perhaps it is newer: a fall, a sports injury, a road traffic accident, or a knee, shoulder or ankle that has not felt right since. You may be hoping it settles on its own while quietly wondering whether it will.

Or you are preparing for, or recovering from, orthopaedic surgery such as a joint replacement, fracture repair or ligament reconstruction. The operation is one part of recovery. Rebuilding movement, strength and confidence is the next.

Physiotherapy looks beyond temporary symptom relief. We assess movement, strength, stiffness, load and the demands of your daily life so treatment addresses the factors that are limiting recovery.

What we treat

Muscle, joint, injury and post-surgery rehabilitation

Assessment comes first. Your programme is then matched to the problem, your stage of healing and the activities you need to return to.

Persistent and long-term pain

  • Back and neck pain, including pain spreading into an arm or leg
  • Arthritis and joint pain in the knee, hip, shoulder and hands
  • Work-related and repetitive strain pain
  • Complex persistent pain, including fibromyalgia

Orthopaedic injuries and trauma

  • Ligament and tendon injuries, sprains and tears
  • Fracture rehabilitation during and after immobilisation
  • Sports injuries and progressive return-to-play rehabilitation
  • Recovery following falls and road traffic injuries

Recovery after surgery

  • Knee, hip and shoulder joint replacement rehabilitation
  • Fracture fixation and other orthopaedic procedures
  • Ligament reconstruction and tendon repair
  • Spinal surgery rehabilitation guided by the surgeon's protocol
Coordinated post-operative care

We work hand in hand with your surgeon

After an operation, the safest recovery is a coordinated one. If you have an orthopaedic surgeon or consulting physician, we follow the relevant post-operative protocol and, with your consent, can share structured progress information about movement, strength and function.

If something in your recovery needs medical review, we encourage prompt communication with the treating doctor. The goal is clear: one recovery direction, fewer conflicting instructions and better continuity between surgery and rehabilitation.

When to see a doctor urgently first

Seek urgent medical assessment before physiotherapy if back pain comes with new loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness around the groin or buttocks, fever, unexplained weight loss or follows serious trauma; or if an injured limb is severely deformed, cold or losing sensation.

If you are unsure where to start, contact the clinic and we can advise whether a rehabilitation assessment or medical review is the safer first step.

How we help

A treatment plan built around your assessment

No two bodies, jobs or recoveries are identical. Depending on your findings, the programme may combine several approaches.

Hands-on care

Manual therapy and other clinically appropriate techniques can be used to improve movement and reduce restrictions alongside active rehabilitation.

Progressive exercise

Guided strength, mobility and control exercises are progressed step by step so your body can safely handle more.

Modern adjuncts

Where clinically appropriate, treatment may include electrotherapy, dry needling, cupping, taping, braces or supports as part of a wider rehabilitation plan.

Home programme

You receive practical exercises and guidance for the days between appointments, because consistent work outside the clinic supports lasting change.

Whole-person support

If sleep, stress, emotional wellbeing, nutrition or weight are affecting recovery, our wider multidisciplinary team can contribute under one roof.

Measured progress

Movement, strength and function are reviewed at meaningful milestones so the plan changes as your capacity improves.

Your recovery, step by step

From assessment to confident movement

1

We listen and assess

We review pain, movement, strength and the real demands of your work, sport and daily life.

2

We explain the findings

You receive a clear explanation of what we found, what may be contributing and what recovery is likely to involve.

3

We treat

Hands-on therapy, equipment and guided exercise are selected according to your condition and healing stage.

4

We measure progress

Strength, movement and function are rechecked so progress is visible and the programme stays relevant.

5

We rebuild for real life

The goal is not only less pain. It is returning to lifting, sitting, walking, sport and work with greater confidence.

6

We plan the next chapter

Discharge includes a maintenance plan and guidance on how to reduce the risk of avoidable setbacks.

A realistic recovery plan

Waiting can make some problems harder to unwind

Injuries can change how you move. Guarding, limping and avoiding activity can reduce strength and shift load to other areas. After surgery, rehabilitation timing is often linked to the procedure and the surgeon's protocol.

No miracle promises

We do not promise instant or guaranteed results. We promise a structured, measured and evidence-informed rehabilitation effort, clear communication and honest advice. If assessment suggests you need imaging, a doctor or a surgeon before continuing, we will tell you.

Questions patients ask

Physiotherapy FAQs

Do I need a doctor's referral to see a physiotherapist?

No. You can book directly with us. If your assessment suggests you need a doctor, scan or specialist first, we will explain that and guide you appropriately.

How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?

It depends on your condition, stage of healing and goals. After the first assessment, your physiotherapist will outline expected milestones, likely review points and a home programme.

When should physiotherapy start after surgery?

Timing depends on the operation and your surgeon’s protocol. In many cases rehabilitation begins early. If you have an upcoming procedure, you can contact us in advance so the post-operative plan is coordinated.

Is physiotherapy painful?

Treatment should stay within a safe and appropriate level for your condition. Some techniques and strengthening work can feel challenging, but pain is not the goal and your therapist will explain the plan before treatment.

Can physiotherapy still help if pain has lasted for years?

Long-standing pain can often improve with a structured combination of movement, progressive exercise, education and other clinically appropriate treatment. An assessment helps determine what is realistic for your situation.
